The three pricing options, and who each one suits
The three options price the same bin in different ways. Choosing the right one is the single biggest thing you control.
Volume Based: for light loads where you need the space
Every size is $325 and includes up to 1 tonne. This suits bulky, light material: old furniture, boxes, carpet, packaging, yard clutter, the contents of a garage. Bulky household junk takes up a lot of room for its weight, and that is exactly the load this option is built for.
Weight Based: for heavier renovation loads
The price rises with the bin size, and so does the weight allowance, up to 3.5 tonnes in a 22 yard bin. This suits renovations where the load is dense: plaster, tile, flooring, lumber and roofing shingles. If you can estimate that the load will run past a tonne or two, this option usually beats Volume Based once the overage is counted.
Flat Rate: for eligible garbage, with no standard excess-weight charge
You pay one price for the bin and there is no standard charge for extra weight. It costs more up front, and material restrictions apply. Ceramic and tile are allowed. Plaster or shingles move the load to Weight Based Pricing. Concrete, dirt, brick and asphalt are not accepted. Confirm what you are loading before you book this one.
What happens when the bin goes over its weight
On Volume Based and Weight Based Pricing, weight above the included allowance is charged at $130 per metric tonne, prorated. Prorated means you pay for the part of a tonne you actually go over, not a whole tonne for a few extra kilograms.
Two worked examples show why the option matters.
A 14 yard bin with 2.5 tonnes of renovation debris:
- Volume Based: $325, plus 1.5 tonnes over at $130, which is $195. Total $520.
- Weight Based: $450, plus 0.5 tonnes over at $130, which is $65. Total $515.
Close, but the heavier the load gets, the further ahead Weight Based pulls.
A 20 yard bin with 3 tonnes of roofing tear-off:
- Volume Based: $325, plus 2 tonnes over at $130, which is $260. Total $585.
- Weight Based: $550, with 3 tonnes included. Total $550.
Now flip it. If that same 20 yard bin is full of light junk and stays under a tonne, Volume Based is $325 and Weight Based is $550. The bin is the same size in both cases. The weight is the only thing that changed.
All prices are before HST. If you are unsure how heavy your load will be, tell us what is going in and we will suggest the option to book.

Heavy material goes in a fill bin instead
Concrete, brick, soil and asphalt are far heavier for their volume than anything else that comes out of a house. A large bin full of them would pass any weight allowance long before it was full, and could not legally be moved. They go in our small aggregate and fill bins instead, before HST:

Clean fill means one material only, such as only concrete or only soil. There is a reason this comes up so often in Toronto: the City's 2026 household waste collection schedule lists rocks, sand, gravel, bricks, concrete, cinder blocks, paving stones and asphalt as items it will not take at the curb or at its drop-off depots, and tells residents to use a private company. Our guide to concrete and brick removal compares a fill bin with a crew haul-away for that kind of job.
What is not included in the bin price
The bin price covers the bin, the included weight and up to 7 days on site. A few things are charged separately, so ask about them when you book rather than after:
- Extra days. If the job runs past the rental period, the extra days are charged separately. On a long renovation, arrange a longer term or a swap when you book rather than discovering the extra days at the end.
- Delivery and other charges. These are separate from the bin price and depend on your location and the job. Ask for the total when you book.
- Extra weight. The $130 per tonne prorated charge above, on Volume Based and Weight Based Pricing.
- A street permit, if the bin cannot go on your property. On your own driveway no permit is needed. A bin on a City of Toronto road allowance (the street, the boulevard or the curb lane) needs a street occupation permit from the City, and the City sets that fee. Most residential jobs fit on the driveway once the size is chosen with room for the truck to tilt.
What we do not do is offer coupons or promo codes, so you will not find one for us. The price on the table is the price.

Five ways to keep your bin rental cost down
- Estimate the weight, not just the volume. Tell us what is going in when you book. Drywall, plaster, tile and shingles are what push a bin over its allowance, and choosing Weight Based up front is cheaper than paying overage on Volume Based.
- Keep heavy material out of the big bin. A wheelbarrow of broken concrete in a garbage bin is the most expensive way to throw it away. Put it in a fill bin or have it hauled by the cubic yard.
- Size for the job, not the fear. On Volume Based Pricing every size is $325, so a slightly bigger bin costs nothing extra if the load is light. On the other options, a bin that is too large is money spent on air. Our bin size guide walks through what fits in each size.
- Keep the load below the top rail. A bin filled past the sides cannot be tarped and is not legal on the road, so it cannot be collected until it is levelled. That costs a wasted trip or an extra day.
- Keep it on the driveway. It avoids the permit, and the permit's lead time, entirely.
Not everything belongs in a bin either. Paint, solvents, motor oil, fuel, propane tanks, batteries, medical waste and anything suspected of containing asbestos are not accepted in any bin.
Bin or crew: which is cheaper for your job?
A bin is usually the cheaper choice when the work runs over several days, when there are people on site to load it, and when the load is renovation debris rather than a houseful of furniture. A crew is usually cheaper when the material is already sitting there and has to come up stairs or out of a tight space, because with a bin you are doing all of that carrying yourself.
If you are not sure, our junk removal service prices a crew-loaded haul by how much of the truck it fills, and we can quote both so you can compare.
